blueyonder.uk Delinked

Posted by meeb on Tuesday 16 March 2010

As many of you may have noticed the blueyonder.uk servers delinked earlier today; they were hosted by VirginMedia who have decided to no longer sponsor QuakeNet. Blueyonder (before being purchased by NTL then eventually Virgin) have been one of our longest and most stable hardware sponsors and their support has been appreciated over the many years they have provided a home for thousands of our UK users.

We advise any regular blueyonder users to switch to the equally stable multiplay.uk.quakenet.org, all DNS entries for blueyonder will be redirected to the UK server pool shortly. We apologise for any inconvenience the sudden delink may have caused.

What a shame! Blueyonder used to be the best back in the day, although they did get purchased many years ago (not initially by Virgin).

It's quite sad to see two of the most stable servers go. Thanks to the people that kept it alive for all that time, you've done a great job! Let's hope multiplay can provide the same level of stability.
